Mohammed Sadman Sakib

RESEARCH ASSISTANT

Mohammed Sadman Sakib is currently a graduate student in Natural Resource Management at the University of Manitoba and has a Research assistant at Mobilizing Insights in Defense and Security (MINDS). He is the holder of the University of Manitoba Graduate Scholarship (UMGF) and the International Graduate Student Entrance Scholarship (IGSES) for Fall 2022. He was awarded the Chancellor of Merit Scholarship by the Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), he also received BUP Scholarship from 2018 to 2020 for his academic excellence.

Sakib was born and raised in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He has completed his bachelor’s from Bangladesh University of Professionals in Disaster and Human Security Management under the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in 2022.The institutes he completed his pre-tertiary education includes Methodist English Medium School, Monipur Uchcha Vidyalaya and College Branch-1 and St. Joseph Higher Secondary School.

Sakib has co-authored many scientific articles which have been published in peer-reviewed journals. His articles cover the areas of public health, mental health, vector-borne diseases, human perception, natural hazards, and man-made hazards. He has written newspaper articles on waste management, vertical gardening, and a travel article on Nepal. The experience gathered by him in his home country is versatile as he has worked on various projects, which include projects funded by the University Grants Commission, Bangladesh; Aberdeen University, UK; BRAC, etc.

Being the only child of his parents, he was pampered a lot, and the result was his presence and achievement outside academics. He was an active member of the BUP Disaster Management Forum and BUP Photography Society, corresponding secretary of the Josephite drama group, and photographer of The Josephite annual magazine. He was an active participant in the Disaster Response Exercise and Exchange, Bangladesh, and volunteered at Sustainable Housing in Nepal for Dream Structures Worldwide in 2019.  He is obsessed with tech gadgets, cars, music, photography, cooking, hiking, painting, reading, and travelling.
