DR. KAWSER AHMED

DR. KAWSER AHMED

Dr. Kawser Ahmed (Executive Director) is an adjunct professor at the University of Winnipeg (political science). He completed his SSHRC post-doctroal fellowship at the same university in 2020. He was an exchange officer with the Turkish Armed Forces, an observer to the United Nations Missions in Western Sahara (MINURSO), and an alumnus at the Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies (NESA) in Washington DC. Dr. Ahmed graduated in Peace and Conflict studies (MPhil, University of Dhaka & PhD, University of Manitoba). His research interests are social conflict and peace-building, radicalism, violent extremism, and UN peacekeeping operations.

PROFESSOR DR. HELAL MOHIUDDIN

PROFESSOR DR. HELAL MOHIUDDIN

Dr. Helal Mohiuddin is a social scientist with nearly three decades of experience conducting qualitative research on diverse areas of livelihood development and human resilience. He teamed up in many commissioned research for UNDP, UNICEF, ActionAid, NGO Forum, CARE ( 2007-FoSHoL, WASH, & ESHWRA, 2006- Nationwide Road Maintenance Programme (1992-2004), phase-out evaluation), Concern Worldwide and other NGOs. An academician by profession he taught sociology, anthropology, development studies, regional planning and gender studies courses at the University of Chittagong, University of Dhaka, and ASA University in Bangladesh; and University of Manitoba, University of Winnipeg and Menno Simons College of the Canadian Mennonite University. Dr. Mohiuddin also served government positions in the Province of Manitoba in Canada.

MR. SM SAIDUL ISLAM

MR. SM SAIDUL ISLAM

Mr. SM Saidul Islam (Director, Administration) began military career in 1984, and served the Bangladesh Army as a Signals Officer, Staff, Instructor, Officer Commanding, and a UN Peace Keeper (Somalia and Sierra Leone). A Dhaka University MBA Mr. Islam received Unit Command and Staff Training (Bangladesh), and Signal Equipment Maintenance and Networking Training (Germany). He attended Shangrila Dialogue (Singapore), and Joint Forces Subject Expert Exchange Seminar (Bangladesh). Retiring from the Military Career Mr. Islam led a US based alternative energy company in Bangladesh as Country Manager. He is a researcher on Liberation war of Bangladesh with a number of publications to his credit. His latest book The Bengal Regiment at War was published in February 2018.

Dr. Nahreen I. Khan (Director, Research & Outreach) is an Environmental Governance and Sustainability specialist with more than 13 years of research, teaching and policy formulation experience in Bangladesh and Germany. She has research and multi-party project management experience. She also worked in media and journalism in Bangladesh. She has a Bachelor and a Master degree in Geography and Environment from Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh and a second Master degree in Environmental Governance along with Sustainability and Corporate Governance from University of Freiburg, Germany. She is an Associate Professor at Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh and received her PhD from University of Marburg, Germany.

DR. SYEED KHAN

Dr. Syeed Khan (Director, Innovation and Development) is a data scientist by profession and passionate about research. His Ph.D. work examined the remittance behavior of South Asian Immigrants.Syeed has worked in a variety of research projects, including a UN project on Aid effectiveness in selected African countries, and immigration related studies on the Philippines, and Sub-Saharan African communities in Canada. Many of his projects have been long-term and methodologically complex, using economic techniques such as statistical matching, long-run growth analysis, and logit-regression modelling.
